There’s a conversation happening this week that I wish more people were part of.
One of the biggest misconceptions in the nonprofit world is that change happens quickly.
It doesn’t.
After more than a decade working in one community in Guatemala, I can tell you this with full confidence. Real impact is built over time. It looks like consistency, trust, and relationships that are formed year after year.
It looks like listening before leading.
It looks like building with a community, not for them.
It looks like creating systems that will last long after you leave.
That’s the kind of work we’ve committed to at Be Humanitarian, and it’s the kind of conversation I’ve been invited to be part of.
On April 20, I’ll be speaking as a panelist following a screening of She Rises Up, a powerful documentary that follows women using business to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty.
It’s a reminder of what’s possible when women are given access to opportunity and support.
