About Your Trip!

We are able to accommodate several kinds of groups on our service vacations! Learn more below.

Schools & Groups

Schools, families, church groups, friend groups, networking groups, associations, community clubs, neighborhoods, really any group of people who want to work together to make a difference in the world can participate in one of our Guatemalan service vacations!

Be Humanitarian can customize trips for groups of 10+ and if your group is smaller than that, you can join one of our existing trips we take each year. It doesn’t matter if you have known each other your entire life, a few years or maybe just a few months, serving together will deepen your relationships.
The reason we call these service vacations is because we want you to have the opportunity to fall in love with Guatemala the way we have! We do sightseeing and activities that allow you to experience the beautiful culture of this beautiful country and make a positive impact while you are there.

Our group trips can be tailored based on the individuals attending. If we have an entire group of adventurers, we may end up sleeping outside on top of a volcano for a night. If we have a group that wants to focus more time on service, we may stay closer to the village and complete more projects with the mothers and children. Every trip looks a bit different, but the outcomes are similar each time. When we get back on the plane to fly home, you will likely have fallen in love with Guatemala and Guatemala will have made an impact on your heart that will last a lifetime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do we stay?

This depends on the number of people and the experience you want. We have relationships with many different hotel owners and can give you options that fit your budget.

Do we have to share rooms?

Usually. If you would like to purchase a single room we can accommodate for an additional fee. We typically share a large house so that we can share our meals but also have many options that would allow everyone on your team to have their own private room.

Can we bring things to donate to the community?

Absolutely! We will provide a list of items that are needed and if you would like to pack extra suitcases and bring them with you, we encourage it. We can also give you donations if you are flying out of Utah.

How can we continue serving after our trip?

Great question! Now, how can you stay involved with the work that we are doing? Some volunteers choose to do a service trip every year or even multiple times a year and for others it is a one-time opportunity. Regardless, if you would like to continue contributing to the projects we were working on while in the country we can help facilitate that. We have sponsorship opportunities available that provide breakfast, lunch, and cover a kiddos educational costs. We can set up a way for you to support specific children you met and get updates throughout the year on their progress.

Why team up with a non-profit instead of just doing an award trip for your team?

Your team members don’t get taxed on the value of the trip the way they would if you just took them on a vacation. All or some of your service vacation could be a tax deduction for your organization – please consult your CPA for the rules in your area.

Can I book my own flight?

We will tell everyone what time we will be meeting at the airport in Guatemala (GUA), and everyone can book their own flights.

What is the weather like?

It is spring like weather where we visit. We encourage you to bring layers as it gets a bit chilly in the early mornings and evenings.

What is the food like?

Be prepared to eat delicious locally grown fresh food. We hire local women to prepare our meals and we will eat at local restaurants. There are plenty of meat and non-meat options and we can handle many food restrictions. Just let our team know.

Do I need to get vaccinations?

No vaccinations are required but we do encourage you to talk to your physician prior to your trip.

Is the water safe to drink?

We drink only bottled and filtered water while we are on the trip.

Individuals

Have you ever felt like there is something more to life? Like you want to make a difference in the world, but you aren’t sure where to start?

Just imagine being able to go on a fully planned service vacation that gives you the opportunity to explore the world a bit while you are making a difference. That is what Guatemalan Humanitarian Tours is all about. We make serving easy and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of if you have never left your hometown or are a world traveler. Going out of the country by yourself can be a bit overwhelming and trying to find service opportunities can be difficult if you don’t have connections where you are traveling.

When you book a service vacation through us you get the best of both worlds. You can travel by yourself then meet up with likeminded people when you arrive, and you will also enjoy a new country and do service work while you are there.

We offer two trips that individuals can sign up for each year. One trip is for 11 days, and the other is 7. Both trips combine vacation components and service components to make for a well-rounded experience. Although you may be strangers on the day you arrive, you will leave as lifelong friends. That is the power of serving together.

Individuals often tell us after their trip that they can’t believe they waited so long to take the leap into international service and plan to do it every year! What are you waiting for?

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do we stay?

We often stay in AirB&B’s for group trips so we can have a home base where we meet for breakfast each morning and dinner each evening. There will be room sharing opportunities for those who are interested in spending less on lodging, but we can provide private rooms for everyone upon request.

What types of service projects do we do?

Depending on what time of year we are going we may be assisting with gardening, painting or even building within the community. We will always play with, read with and laugh with our community and there are projects for people of all skill levels.

Do we raise money for the service projects before we go?

On our group trips we require that each participant raises $500 for the non-profit that will go directly to support the service projects we are doing while in the country. We can help you with ideas on how to accomplish this without much work on your end.

Can we bring items to donate to the community?

Absolutely! We will provide a list of items that are needed and if you would like to pack extra suitcases and bring them with you, we encourage it. We may also have pre-packed suitcases we can get you if you are flying out of Utah.

How can we continue serving after our trip?

Great question! If you would like to continue contributing to the projects we are working on in Guatemala we can help facilitate that. We have monthly sponsorships available that help provide breakfast, lunch, and educational costs. Company & Business

There is no arguing that we are in an incredibly competitive job market and that companies must do something to differentiate themselves to attract and retain top talent. At the same time, the top talent who is looking will not just settle for any job with any company, they want to make a living working for an amazing organization AND make an impact. We can help!

Many companies claim to have a culture of service, yet they don’t offer any service opportunities to their team members. Be Humanitarian creates customized service vacation opportunities for companies of all sizes. Service Vacations to Guatemala range from 6-11 days and can include everything from multiple service days at a local village, zip-lining tours, mentoring local businesses, sightseeing, team meals, beach visits, volcano hikes and more. Together we determine your desired outcomes, and then we provide you with many options to choose from depending on the experience you are seeking for your team. Once a trip agenda is finalized, we take care of everything, travel arrangements, all communication with the team, pre-trip question sessions, final agenda, transportation, lodging, meals, and activities. All you need to do is pack and show up at the airport ready for what we are confident will be a life changing trip.

Our experienced event and travel team is with you every step of the way and we can even arrange for a photographer or videographer to travel with us if you are interested. If your company has a culture of service and you want to add an International service opportunity to the list of what makes you a great company to work for, reach out today to learn more!
