Day 2

Saturday

Wake up to the sound of the ocean and spend the day immersed in conservation efforts. We’ll have the unforgettable opportunity to release baby sea turtles into the sea while learning about the vital work being done to protect these fragile creatures. The afternoon offers time to relax on the beach before we come together again for a group dinner and reflection.

Day 3

Sunday

Our final morning on the coast includes another chance to release turtles (if available) before enjoying breakfast by the shore. From there, we’ll journey inland to the small village of San Andrés, nestled near the breathtaking Lake Atitlán. After settling into our new accommodations, we’ll share a warm welcome dinner in the heart of the community.

Day 4

Monday

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll walk the streets of San Andrés and begin our community service projects. The day will be filled with delivering donations, visiting families, and connecting with children, offering both service and cultural immersion. We’ll close the evening with dinner and time for group reflection.

Day 5

Tuesday

Today we’ll experience a lively Guatemalan market day, purchasing hundreds of pounds of fresh groceries to deliver to families in need. In the afternoon, we’ll continue our community projects before taking a short ride to Panajachel. There, we’ll stroll the colorful streets, browse artisan shops, and enjoy a stunning sunset over Lake Atitlán.

Day 6

Wednesday

Our morning will be dedicated to more family visits and community projects in San Andrés. After lunch, we’ll head to our English school, spending time with students in the classroom and engaging with them through games, lessons, and play.

Day 7

Thursday

Today we’ll focus on community projects and visiting families, while also dedicating meaningful time at the English school. In the afternoon, we’ll host a joyful community activity — perhaps soccer, kite flying, or another weather-friendly event — bringing laughter and connection to the children we serve.

Day 8

Friday

Our final day of service in San Andrés will be spent visiting families, completing community projects, and returning once more to the English school to say heartfelt goodbyes. That evening, we’ll gather with the community for a farewell activity before beginning our journey to Antigua.

FAQS

Where do we stay?

We stay in AirB&B’s and local homes. We always have a home base where we eat and connect together.

Do we share rooms?

Yes. Most of the time we don’t have housing big enough to offer individual rooms, however we may be able to offer private rooms depending on the group.

What types of service projects do we do?

Depending on what time of year we are going, we may be assisting with gardening, painting, building a home, installing wood burning stoves, delivering water filters, etc.. We will always play with, read with and laugh with our community and there are projects for people of all skill levels.

Can we bring items to donate to the community?

Absolutely! We will provide a list of items that are needed and if you would like to pack extra suitcases and bring them with you, we encourage it. We may also have pre-packed suitcases we can get you if you are flying out of Utah.

What is the weather like?

Guatemala is called the land of eternal spring, so it is spring like weather most of the year. We encourage you to bring layers as it gets a bit chilly in the early mornings and evenings.

What is the food like?

Be prepared to eat delicious locally grown fresh food. We hire local women to prepare our meals and we will eat at local restaurants. There are plenty of meat and non-meat options and we can handle many food restrictions. Just let our team know.

Is the water safe to drink?

No. We only drink bottled and filtered water while in Guatemala.
