Celebrating the fierce visionary Maria Josefa Granados, a pioneering Guatemalan intellectual, writer, journalist and poet. Her powerful words and bold character played a crucial role in Guatemala’s independence movement of 1821 and beyond. As a feminist ahead of her time, she used her poetry to paint vivid portraits of a turbulent era, earning her praise from Ruben Dario as ‘the most indigenous woman Central America has produced.’

#30daysnonprofit Part 2

I often get asked how to start a non-profit and after 12 years my advice is to find an existing non-profit and align with them.  So, just so you know how we do it. Running a non-profit takes endless amounts of time, energy, money and pure tenacity.

Here are steps 6-15 that we needed to complete.

6. Build a strong online presence
7. Recruit passionate volunteers and staff
8. Establish partnerships
9. Develop impactful programs
10. Communicate your impact
11. Cultivate donor relationships
12. Measure your impact
13. Ensure compliance
14. Embrace learning
15. Celebrate success!
